Once Krishna was caught stealing butter
from someone's house and mother Yashoda came to know about this. Mother Yashoda
got angry on this matter. So she thought of punishing Lord Shri Hari Krishna.

She thought of tying lord
Krishna to a pounder. She brought a rope that was perfect to bind little
Krishna to the pounder. In the fury, Mother Yashoda started to bind Lord
Krishna to the pounder. This scene was so blissful that even the gods had come
to the sky to see this scene. This scene was so magnificent also because the
one who frees everyone from bondage was going to bind up in the bond now. So
when she started to bind Lord Krishna, the rope which was long enough for the
body of little Krishna suddenly became very short now. Then she went inside the
house and brought some more rope and longer than the previous one. But this time
also the same thing happened, the rope became small. Mother Yashoda tried very hard
to tie up little Krishna but was not able to do so. This was happening because
it is impossible to tie up Lord Krishna with the negative feeling, at that time
the feeling of anger in Yashoda’s head was a negative feeling. She started
crying after all unsuccessful tries. Lord Krishna took pity on her just because
her tears were pure and tied himself up to the pounder with the same rope that
his mother brought to tie him.
But now when he tied himself
to the pounder, Yashoda became happy. She wiped her tears and left him for a
while to punish him as she decided to do and went to do her daily work.
When there was no one around Krishna, Krishna started walking on his knees
with that pounder. After walking a short distance, he got stuck between two
trees. Then Krishna applied a little force so that he could get out of those
trees, then those trees were uprooted from the root themselves. Then two Gandharvas
appeared from those trees and bowed down to Lord Krishna. He started his story
on the advice of Lord Krishna that they were two young and beautiful Gandharvas
who were taking a bath in the lake a long time ago with some girls. Sage Narada was
passing by the same lake. But the Gandharvas were in their ego, they
disrespected the sage Narada. Narada became furious at them and cursed them to
turn into two trees so that their mind could calmly think about what they had
done. The Gandharvas were now filled with fear and asked the sage for forgiveness
and a cure for the curse. Sage Narada took pity on him and said that when Lord
Vishnu descends on earth he will free him from the curse. This was a day for
them to be freed from the curse.
